out with friends friday night: $20 hosted a hanukkah thing on saturday: $14 for mini menorah set, $6 for latkes, $7 for doughnuts (food fried in oil is traditional for hanukkah - we jews love to clog our arteries and also get really sauced on holidays), $23 for bourbon to make cocktails (others contributed wine and beer so i have lots of booze leftover), $30 for bar hopping after the party. hmm. that turned into quite the expensive evening. groceries on sunday $35 i also spent $15 on a new cable thing to attach my iphone to my car's stereo system. total: $150

@Pumpkin alskdalksdnvlaksdbn;aklsdvnALSKNBVLKDBNALK. no, i know you're trying to help and that is SUPER appreciated. honestly, that sounds exactly like what's happening. because the battery is fine, just nothing will happen at all if i turn the key. wow, there's really no way to get in there and stop that from happening? ugh. not cool GM. i might not bother going back at this point. blaaaaaarg.

@Pumpkin argh nooo. it's a 2006 saturn ion coupe, so, yeah, GM. only on very cold mornings it decides it doesn't want to start -- no chugging, no clicking, just nothing happens when i turn the key. after the day warms up a bit, it's fine. it's really bizarre and completely inconvenient.

On Things to Talk About Before Shacking Up
@polka dots vs stripes yes. before i move in with someone, i probably would expect them to have a pretty solid idea of how much alone time i need and whether or not i'm a "say hi to me when i walk through the door" person (A LOT and, no, leave me alone for at least 20 minutes).

after spending over $400 replacing the starter in my car last weekend, i awoke this morning to discover the issue at hand was back and also worse. so i have to go back tomorrow morning and i have no idea what it will cost but i know it will probably make me cry. :( i'm also going out and buying gift cards for underprivileged families for the holidays, but i'm just volunteering my time because the collection of money already happened last week in my office. other than that, i'm having friends over tomorrow night for hanukkah jewtivities. i have to go find a menorah and some candles and we're going to cook food fried in oil and say bruchot. maybe $50 for supplies? hopefully others will bring some booze. i don't know how much my car will cost so i'm going to be stingy about groceries this week and try to keep it under $50 and another $20 for a run to the liquor store at some point for wine, etc. hopefully not more than $120 total for the weekend (car problems not included).
