This kind of attitude infuriates me. Honestly, if you decide to take a job at the "famous" Magnolia Bakery, the expectation of customers wanting to talk about SITC and cupcakes should be part of the job. I cannot stand people who work in the customer service industry who have no customer service skills. If you don't want to interact with people who ate excited to eat a cupcake because it was on TV, get a job stocking shelves, not at a bakery that was featured on TV. There is nothing worse than being treated rudely or condescended by someone in the service industry. There are plenty of people out of work who would gladly take the job that you so dislike. And who would enjoy talking the the customers that pay your salary.
