@stuffisthings Thanks for clarifying! Aren't those numbers also the ones used with the MDGs?

On Three Friends Make An Attempt to 'Live Below the Line'
I have a friend who is a social worker and works at a food bank, and she did the 4.50 a day challenge, which I guess is poverty line? That doesn't seem that difficult for me as a vegeterian who loves pasta, rice, and beans, but 1.50 would be rough. I know the updated world extreme poverty level is living on 1.25 a day? But I guess that includes things other than food?

On Where's Our Chip Cards America?
I tend to use cash when traveling, because foreign transaction fees are the devil, most cards have them, and many societies are much more cash-based than the US is.

@Deb of last year@twitter I also have pretty low food spending, and though right now it's more habit than necessity, I have spent a lot of time recently/historicaly under/unemployed. As for me, I think they're good because even though people only get a taste, I think it can be humbling and grounding to understand what's it's like to live with less. I also think it can give people empathy and encourage them to reduce waste and conspicuous consumerism.
