Going to the theatre isn't necessarily expensive; BROADWAY is expensive. There are a gazillion not-for-profits in NYC that have affordable tickets, student rush tickets, free tickets if a person wants to volunteer usher, pay-what-you can nights during previews, etc. OMG, Mike Dang, do a post on seeing-art-deals! I'll help you! Even Broadway shows have deals during previews -- the TKTS booth in Times Square isn't just for tourists, and the website Broadwaybox.com has all the current discount codes for ordering online.

@BananaPeel Me too! This woman sounds great and I hope she figures out some way to out from under her ex's debt. No one likes to think about this stuff when they're getting married, but pre-nups are not just for rich people. If a woman puts all her eggs in her husband's basket (say, by moving away from her own support network for his work or being primary breadwinner while he is a full-time student), it makes sense to have a binding agreement for what might happen if the marriage ends.

@elizabeast This is exactly why I ended up getting on LinkedIn, after resisting it for ages. It's a way to stay in touch with people I really only know in a professional context, without the distraction of personal information and pet and child photos. Though the sorting possibilities of Facebook can keep acquaintances from seeing "Friend" stuff, it doesn't provide the same networking/skills reminder functions.
