On The Deli Person's Mistake
I had a similar situation recently, but instead of being overcharged, they sold me undercooked chicken. I called when I got home and explained what happened, not being willing to drive all the way back to the store. The store manager told me to write her name on the receipt and bring it back on my next visit for a refund.

On Let’s All Throw Some Money at Our Problems: November Check-In
STUDENT LOAN IS PAID OFF. We now have NO DEBT except our fixed-rate mortgage. I've managed to pay our credit cards in full every month this year since about March, and are still saving every month for the kid's college fund. (We are a dual-income couple in our late 30s.)

On The Agonies, the Ecstasies and the Efficiencies of Menu Planning
Man. I rarely spend less than $150/week on groceries. But that includes stuff for lunch and breakfast, and some non-food items for a family of 3.

On My American Dreams (In This Economy)
I have had dream 2. I work in student services, and I can tell you that dream 3 actually happens to people in real life. (Sometimes they can drop it, but oh yes they still get charged for it.) I used to have dreams sort of like dream 1. I called them Frustrated Travel Dreams. I was always trying to get somewhere and there would be all these obstacles -- I'd be at the airport for an international flight without my passport, or I'd be trying to get to work but buses would drive by me without stopping. I assumed they had to do with being frustrated with my job -- like, I wasn't able to figure out how to get where I wanted, but I knew I didn't want to stay where I was? I haven't had them since changing jobs

On The Apple of My Eye Is an Actual Apple
The Honeycrisp apple! One of the greatest contributions of the University of Minnesota (along with pace makers and seat belts). Another great argument for public investment in research universities. But did you know that the Honeycrisp is meant to be grown in the Upper Midwest? So if your apples were grown somewhere else, you aren't having the most perfect Honeycrisp experience possible.

On Do All The Things You've Been Putting Off (Syke Just Do 1 Thing)
I forgot it's that time again. This week: officially took up the house search again by e-mailing my Realtor to set up some showings.

On Let’s All Throw Some Money at Our Problems: September Check-In
One more payment left on my husband's student loan! We will be done with it before the holidays! SO HAPPY.

On What Was Your Big Mistake?
Spending too much to improve my house. The house now looks great, but we definitely will not recover those costs when we sell this year or next year.

On WWYD: Tipping on a Discounted Meal, Being Assertive
LW2, PLEASE call them! Part of my job involves awarding and administering scholarships, and I would bet that your foundation really, really wants to give you this money. It would have been better had you contacted them when you realized you weren't going to register, but your assumption was logical. They've already budgeted this money for you, and they might not be able to spend it any other way.
