On The Self-Governing Office

No thanks. There are quite a few cliques where I work and it would only turn into a popularity contest.

On Let's Throw Some Money at Our Problems: May 2013 Check-In

Good job Logan! That cc has gone down a lot. I'm working on paying off my car loan. I thought I owed around $4000 but I checked it yesterday and it's around $2700. I'm hoping I can get it under $1000 by the end of the year. That seems like a realistic goal.

On I Always Spend All My Money And I'm Never Going to Change, Am I

I think the advice like "set a budget", "have different accounts", etc... Is something Logan has heard and probably tried over and over. Sometimes this stuff just doesn't work. I couldn't change my spending habits until I face the problems that were behind my spending (trying to live like my friends, insecurity, feeling I deserved things like dinner out or iced coffee just because I had what I perceived to be a bad day). Figuring out why you're doing these things and working on those issues, not on the action of spending money, really is the only way to fix this. I'm rooting for you Logan. I've been there and this might sound dramatic, but it's a struggle everyday not to end up back in that place.

On Only Way to Get 1 Job Is If Someone You Know Gives It to You, But What Do You Give Them?

Ask them what they got the person who got them their job. Get them that thing.

On A Thread That Is Open

I think I did something dumb, but I'm not sure. I just got an Ann Taylor Loft card. It's the only store I shop at and I don't have any other store cards. I have one other credit card that I just paid off so now I don't have any credit card debt. I was at Loft buying a skirt for work and the clerk did her whole spiel about how I could save 20% if I applied and then she went on to say that they send out special email coupons, you get 10% off the first Tuesday of every month, and some other stuff. I thought about it and figured that since it's the only store I shop at, it would be worth it. I don't buy a lot of clothes to begin with, but I'd like to save money when I do. Loft always has crazy sales so now I'd be saving even more. This was a good decision right?
