On A Secret About Coconut Water And Also Happiness In General, Possibly
I once picked up a carton of Vitacoco to make this coconut water and grapefruit juice shaved ice recipe, but upon trying the Vitacoco couldn't bring myself to do anything but gag and throw the rest of the carton out. Any recommendations for coconut water brands that don't taste horrifying?

On I Feel Bad About My Air Conditioner
@guenna77 I agreed with you that he feels he's wasting power, but because there are other ways he listed that he can stay cool without using the AC. I didn't agree with your imagined point that he thinks he's wasting it because of all the people who didn't have power.

On I Feel Bad About My Air Conditioner
@guenna77 He explained it right in the post that he "feels bad" about the money he thinks he's wasting by using the air conditioner instead of keeping cool in ways that use less energy and equate to lower energy bills. Nothing in this posts talks about feeling guilty because he has access to an AC and other people do not? Still though, Mike, I don't know if this will make you feel less bad or make you more neurotic about AC use, but you already bought that AC, or if you didn't, then your landlord did and is figuring your ability to enjoy that into the cost of your rent, so you should at least get your money's worth on that end and use it maybe some of the time?

On I Cannot Carry a Queen-sized Box Spring Alone, And Other Things I Learned This Weekend
@Quinn A@twitter Yeah the 50% tip was the one part that really made me cringe, but at least this time around Logan knew that was an insane tip and tried to get change to make it more reasonable (vs. last time Logan let us in on her crazy-generous tipping)? Maybe for future reference, making sure you have some small bills on you to tip is a pretty reasonable excuse to get ice cream on the way to your hair appointment? Is that good advice or just further enabling? Sorry, it's so effing hot everywhere, I can only encourage all the ice cream purchases.

On Money for the Bullied
I also would like to hear about 9-year-old Mike Dang's Halloween costume! Kids are the worst, but that guidance counselor also kind of sounds like a jerk? Unless I'm interpreting the tone wrong, that sort of sounds like that teacher on The Simpsons going, "the children are right to laugh at you, Ralph."

On Should Lisa Charge a Trip to India, or Skip It?
@smack But this friend's wedding is happening again, in New Jersey. If it weren't, the decision would be much harder I'm sure; I'd most likely go if that were the case, debt be damned. But a far more affordable alternative that still involves being part of a good friend's important life event is available. I understand there's always a trade off, and we all choose that trade off differently. I just didn't agree that the trade off was experience vs. possessions as you first put it, and I still don't agree that the trade off is once-in-a-lifetime experience (It's not! Go to NJ to celebrate your friend's union! Go to India in a few years, but maybe before you turn 60?) vs. saving for a dishwasher. I definitely didn't mean to come across as feeling or acting morally superior and I'm sorry if that's the tone that resulted (though I made no references to children vs. adults anywhere??), but continuing to characterize the alternative to a trip to India as something as trivial as buying a possession or fixing a non-essential appliance also seems to imply the trade off is far starker than it actually is.

@smack setting aside the rest of your points about changing priorities, Mike Dang wasn't talking about saving money to obtain more possessions. Saving money gave him the *experience* of being able to assist other friends and family members when they really needed it and to chase a career dream. I know you didn't mean it this way, but I feel there's always a danger on this site and in the comments to characterize people who are trying to save money or improve their financial situation as boring/materialistic/not really living life.

On A Secret About Coconut Water And Also Happiness In General, Possibly
@Jake Reinhardt Aw, well, I guess better to find out now instead of continuing to try to find a mythical brand I will like. I really like coconut milk and coconut, so I guess I assumed that would carry over to coconut water. Vitacoco just tasted overly sweet and artificial to me though, the latter of which I assumed came from the packaging.
