On Reader Mail: I Saved A Lot of Money. Now What?
@Katzen-party Yes! My husband's grandma died and left us a bunch of money. We decided to put a quarter towards charity, a quarter towards fun things (some of which included household necessities, which were fun for us), and saved the remaining half. The money we spent on charities was incredibly rewarding. It made me so happy.

On Regrets of a Cat Owner
I adopted a 23 lb. dachshund/jack russell mix from a shelter last December. So far he has cost me $169/lb. In other words: a bit more than the Iberico ham. I think he's worth it, because he is a wonderful precious flower who sometimes rolls in dead fish at the beach. But holy shit the vet bills. (And the dog daycare when I go out of town.)

On Hobbies Are Expensive (Fine by Me, Like I Care)
@sony_b I think the same thing about my pilates machine classes and then I take a mat class and I decide that all the money is worth it.
