By londonistheplaceforme on I Thought Socialized Medicine Was Soooo Great, But Now I'm Like, "No Thanks"
Well, this is some stellar, exhaustive, well-researched journalism. A Pulitzer for you, sir! Anyway, what the hell does the skinhead have to do with it?! Oh, I forgot, in your country poor people aren't all that welcome in hospitals. Pro tip: when you're writing about something as huge as the NHS, do some fucking research.

By MollyculeTheory on How To Get Whatever You Want From Customer Service, Painfully
The best way to get past automated-voice recognition, which I discovered when drunkenly trying to cancel a lost credit card at about 4 in the morning, is to yell and swear at it. "FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING ISAAC ASIMOV PIECE OF SHIT, I WANT TO SPEAK TO A GODDAMN HUMAN BEING, NOT YOUR STUPID FUCKING ROBOT ASS."

Wow, the closing to this piece was wonderful. My relationship is about to become an LDR so as I was reading this I guessed that it was going to end in a breakup, saying that it wasn't worth the money and the relationship didn't last. I'm so, so glad to hear that it did work out! I almost teared up during that last line.

By City_Dater on Surviving the Financial Aftermath of Your Parents' Divorce
@ASCtvartedun Not to further pile on you, but the author never mentions a "maid" and doesn't seem especially spoiled. She and her family were somewhat trapped in, and attempting to keep up, a lifestyle they couldn't really afford during a drawn-out divorce settlement. She's also only 25! Which is, in general, the Age of Rude Awakenings.

@claudineonthedole quick note - "bad luck" isn't actually a thing. A good knife is a great gift.

@FreddyRex Yes, that's right, we're ~so different~ from literally every other developed (and several developing) countries in the world.
