On Desirable Attributes in Apartments
I move to New York in 9 days. I am moving up with a friend who is also going to graduate school. We have a third friend who wants to live with us. We have generous friends letting us stay with them while we find a place, but we're hopeful we'll find a place (3-bedroom) fairly quickly. How much should I set myself up for disappointment?

@Spinach Party I once successfully walked into Ikea and out of it within 20 minutes and that included spending five minutes trying to track down a dolly for the furniture I was buying and partially failing at keeping my blinders on in the kitchen section. I was very proud.

On Why Aren't You Paying for Music?
@redheaded&crazy I either buy records or buy mp3s from Amazon or iTunes these days. I agree that doing this limits my library in a way it wasn't when I was in college during the file-sharing heyday, but I think that I like it better this way. I feel better about supporting the artists, and a more manageable and constrained library lets me pay more attention to the music I buy, and I end up enjoying it with more depth than when I just had everything because I could.

@cowboykiller That sounds amazing. I will propose it. Our problem is that we are all going to different schools, but want to live together. It's looking like somewhere in Queens is our best option, but we're open to everything. Thanks for the recommendation!
