On Growing Up Means More Money But Less Fun
Maybe I'm just a misanthrope, but I have literally never been invited to a destination wedding? And don't know anyone who would even have one? Also, I think that when people plan those destination weddings it's with the expectation that many guests simply won't be able to afford it. I guess I don't really understand the attitude of "well, I've been invited to a wedding that will cost me thousands of dollars for one day of celebrating, but I don't have a choice! Have to go!" If it's your mother's wedding, sure. But friends from college? Pretty sure they'll 100% understand if you graciously decline and send a nice (but still way less expensive than plane tickets/hotel) gift.
