On Time Warner Cable's Really Obnoxious 'Business Decision'
Ugh, Time Warner is the only cable option for my house and I've only ever heard terrible things about them which is why I stick with my inferior Verizon DSL. I mean, not terrible, but there is a sometimes noticeable speed dip if multiple people are using the connection and someone is downloading.

On I Found $20 and Then Eschewed Finding True Love, Maybe Forever
I blogged about a vaguely similar experience, but you sound like such a nice person with actual compunctions about this while I just made myself sound like an asshole.

On Some Small Things Are Worth Paying For
1-ply toilet paper and store-brand tissues! i will say, though, that the kirkland brand tissues from costco are actually very good (i would say, comparable to kleenex) but puffs are BY FAR the best.

On It's Like A Membership to a Movie Theater If You're Into That
I just buy those AMC Silver/Gold passes that cost $6-8 and hoarde them. For the type of moviegoer that I am, it works out way better than this would. I don't have to feel guilty about not making use of my monthly fee and I can offer to take a friend out sometimes.

On Feeling Inspired
I had a similar experience with fiction when I was a kid! Our assignments were to write horror stories for Halloween, and when I sat down to write it I remember thinking that I finally understood how to use language. I read it in class, and the next day my teacher called me in to read it to one of her other classes. I no longer want to write professionally, but it was very formative for my high school and early college experiences.
