@Worker Parasite Yeah for me, my yearly bonus isn't a bonus as much as 'withheld salary.' It gives the company the legal option to withhold it, while telling me my yearly compensation is higher. It has nothing to do with my performance and is scheduled the same time every year.

Oh god it's raining on my face. My grandparents are ok financially (I think? They never talk about it), and luckily they live in a different country with free healthcare and a social safety net, but I still worry.

An irresponsible generation didn't throw Spain into an economic crisis -- irresponsible bankers on Wall Street, irresponsible foreign real estate speculators, and irresponsibly tight-fisted European monetary policy did. Also recall that as recently as 2006 Spain had a lower unemployment rate and better fiscal situation than Germany, and was being touted (along with now-bankrupt Ireland) as the forward-looking economic model for "old Europe" to follow, thanks in part to its more flexible labor market...

So many thoughts and feelings about this business, because I was intimately involved in it. But basically, you're right. It's a circle jerk that leaves college kids emotionally broken because they're working their asses off for an organization that cares nothing for them, and any complaints are dismissed because of "the cause." So glad I'm out of it, and so sorry for the kids I hired and fired working in this terrible, terrible business.
