@Bill Fostex In my world, a banana snack is either banana with yogurt and granola OR one of the tiny, tiny bananas we get here that are tart and sweet. Who knows which one it was this week, though. Also, can we do something like this again next week?? It was the highlight of my work week...pictures of non-food items that we use every day? Like my Listerine, which is by far the most expensive item but does nothing to quell my nightmares about my teeth falling out. Or, drawings of our favorite cheap recipes...something!

Does anyone have any advice or info on Ph.d grads in the public health field, specifically Occupational and Environmental Health? I remember a while back, there were a bunch of you talking about related areas. I'm also interested in moving into the Epi area. I just got into grad school, and I'm pretty excited for the program but also worried about job opportunities (in academia, but very much outside of it) if you've got the Ph.d...MPH holders seem to do well, but I don't know about others.

@Charlotte Good lord, I can't imagine how your family has dealt with that. It reminds me (on a much larger scale) of the post awhile back about a woman whose mother sold her car without her permission and how her family dealt with that kind of betrayal.

I learned a lot of childhood lessons from Roald Dahl's Danny the Champion of the World...mostly that Rolls-Royces are driven by rich jerks and that you can poach pheasants using ambien-laced raisins.

On How Much Do You Spend on Groceries Every Week?
@seaermine I agree, when I lived in DC it was always way cheaper to shop at the Whole Foods compared to the really awful Safeway right down the street. For a while, I didn't get this because I'd heard the "whole paycheck" thing, then I price compared every item on my grocery bill and it WAS cheaper! Produce and 365 brand stuff are cheaper and they have a good bulk section. But...none of that compares to Wegmans.
