On College Prestige vs. College Affordability

@Dinosaur_Senior Most people going into college don't understand the full extend of those financial consequences. If the PARENT isn't even capable of making the financially responsible decision, how can you expect their child to?

On Richard Lawson v. Time Warner Cable

@Richard Lawson@twitter As a former Time Warner Cable customer (as of today! just got FIOS, sayonara suckers!) I don't think you were being an asshole. Seriously, if any of the people who are commenting here had experienced a single conversation with a TWC representative they would know better.

On Being Unemployed Is Doing Marvelous Things for My Anxiety

"I just lost a job because I enjoyed this latte and read some of my book." Jeez, you are kind of the opposite of me. I mean, I too am anxious and buggin about unemployment and feelings of worthlessness, except it culminates in about 3-5 job apps a week. And then when I apply I don't hear back cause, ya know, tons of people are also applying.

On Who Actually Wants to Go on a Staycation?

I like the idea of a Staycation! I think the point is that it encourages you to do something you wouldn't normally do, or indulge as you would on vacation. You can justify it by the fact that even if you're spending more money than you normally would on dinner/activities, you aren't paying any of the travel expenses—hell, get a hotel room, it's still cheaper than a flight! Admittedly I have taken two vacations this summer, but all in all my summer has been devoid of some quality beach/pool time. I am considering getting a day pass to the King & Grove pool in wburg on a weekday for $30.. a splurge indeed, especially with mccarren park pool around the corner, but a luxury that might be worth not worrying about feces in the pool.

On Let's Discuss the Merits of Anthropologie (The Clothing Store, Not the Discipline)

@meatcute I agree with you about wanting to accumulate/being seduced by "investment" pieces, but to be honest everything I've ever bought from low to mid range stores/brands is still in pretty damn good condition, so I am confused as to what people are doing in these clothes that is causing them to fall apart? This includes Forever 21 and H&M stuff.

On Hacker Hostels

Usually they ask you to label your food with your name and date, so that cleaning staff can toss anything that's left over by people who have already left. Just sayin'.
