On Crashing the Panel for the Free Food

I think the majority of my place of employment's catering budget has been sequestered away, otherwise we would be a great place to hit up. Events several times a month, usually with sandwiches but sometimes with delicious gigantic platters of food from this vaguely Mediterranean place that apparently vastly overestimates how much hummus people want with their meal. Also, no one's ever checking names and there are all sorts of randoms who show up for events regularly.

On How I Made 3 Dinners For Two Average Out to Just $5 Person

@faceifer haha the tags, sure, but I know A LOT of people who do think like this, and it's part of why they struggle to manage their finances.

On How I Made 3 Dinners For Two Average Out to Just $5 Person

Groceries very much count as money spent! Especially when you're talking about fresh vegetables and cheese and things that spoil quickly. (Why especially? For me, I budget my money weekly and monthly, so a can of beans that's been sitting in a cabinet for six months, lost and alone, doesn't take anything away from my current budgets, but the $20 in fresh vegetables I bought three days ago most definitely figures into my "how much did I spend this week" calculations.)

On Places I’ve Lived: Spiral Staircases, Sublets, and a Nightmare Landlord

I've rented from 3 condo owners and they've all been MUCH experiences than the one time I rented from a management company. Condos are also, at least in my experience, way cheaper than company-managed apartments.

On 474 People in America Named Richard Rich

I am the only one with my exact name. There used to be another one, but she got married and changed her last name. There are no dick jokes to be made about my name - believe me, people have tried.

On Money and Depression: Telling Your Boss, Or Not

"I feel like I have enough energy to do one of two things: either work or take care of myself. And I always choose work, no matter how awful I feel. Even if it makes me feel awful." THIS. SO MUCH OF THIS. THIS AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE.

On How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Chain Restaurants

@OllyOlly Clearly the author needed to prove that even though he was defending chains, he wasn't a no good dirty rotten fatty mc fat fat! No, sir! HE IS BETTER THAN THAT. Also, clearly, it is the fatties of America who love chains and eat at chains and that is a huge part of why chains are destroying everything good in this country. Because if fatties like 'em, they can't be good!

On Depression and Money, Some Real Talk

@probs You are not totally misinformed. Getting a security clearance (especially the higher clearances) is hard if not impossible if you've been in therapy. Also, the Peace Corps isn't a fan of sending you overseas for the same reason. It's good, because it's not like mental illness is stigmatized in this country or anything.
