I would like to say, kudos for making the trip to the range. Most people are conditioned to see guns as a scary thing that should be avoided. Someone new to shooting and being around guns probably won't get all the vocabulary right, or know the correct parts of a gun. I'm not going to criticize you for that. When I first encountered guns, I was terrified, and knew nothing, but luckily I had good resources to help guide me. I just want to disagree with what your friend said. I am the owner of guns. I do not want to use them. I enjoy shooting, it's a great form of relaxation. But a responsible gun owner also knows the responsibilities of having such a powerful tool, and rarely wants to have to use it.
