To leave out specifics about Yaffa's saving habits, then make a point about what that money could do if saved, is so irresponsible. Don't try to brush it under the table by saying, "oh, well she's saving, but only in a 401(k). Not for a house! I was talking about a house!" What would be irresponsible is investing your house down payment in an S&P index fund, where you could lose it all.
