On Let's All Throw Some Money at Our Problems: February 2013 Check-In
@Dancercise Thanks :) It was really rough, but it was the right thing for him - definitely doesn't make it suck less for the humans involved though :-/

@Runawaytwin It was rough - he was my boyfriend's cat, so the final decision making was with him, but SO HARD to watch someone I love struggle with that decision :-( Since both cats are/were old (17/18), we had already talked about what kind of budget we would have if we got into a deteriorating health situation with them. It was kind of a relief that it was so clear that he needed to be put down, so we didn't have to be harsh and weigh the pros and cons of treating him or not. The clinic that we went to also didn't charge for putting him down, just for testing before that and cremation, which I thought was really nice.

Oy, what a month: CREDIT CARDS: Bank Americard: $1,137.91 (It was at $500 but the BF and I put over $600 on it this weekend with a cat emergency and eventual euthanasia :-/ He'll be paying the majority of the extra amount since it was his cat, but I feel terrible for him! Hoping I can help pay this one down with him). Capital One: $474.46 J. Crew: $116.25 (spring clothes, will be paying most of this off with my next paycheck) SAVINGS: Emergency Fund: $1,084.36 Future Wedding Fund: $660.00

On Let’s All Throw Some Money at Our Problems: November Check-In
I'm working on paying off my J. Crew credit card while paying double the minimums on my Bank Americard and Capital One credit cards. I just put some Christmas-related things on the Bank Americard, but my interest rate on that doesn't kick in until the middle of next year (one year interest-free), so I'm still feeling pretty good about being able to aggressively pay down a large portion of that so I don't get hit too hard on the interest. With November payments: J. Crew: $190.06 (paying $100 a month - will be done soon!) Bank Americard: $1,275.32 (paying $50 a month - will snowball the J. Crew amount here when that's paid off) Capital One: $1,154.94 (paying $50 a month - will throw any additional here once J. Crew is paid off and Bank Americard is below $1,000) My parents (very, VERY generously) took on my student loans, which are in the $60k range. They are SO KIND.

On When Half Your Income Goes to Rent
I live with the BF in a two bedroom place in Brooklyn for $1,775. We split 'er up, and it's exactly 42% of my monthly income, which saddens my heart. We get a lot of perks living there (central air, laundry in the building, a block from the subway, courtyard, rooftop, we love the area, etc. etc.), so maybe it's worth it? I still seriously can't wait to blow this popsicle stand and move out of the city.

Fun! And also not fun because ARGHHH DEBT. I have one credit card that I actually use (and a J Crew one that I'm terrified of ever using because once I open that Pandora's Box, baaaad things...). As of 6/20, my balance is $1,023.28. My limit is $1,500, which hasn't changed since 2009 because Capital One is terrible and never increases my limit. Although it's probably a good thing that they never increased it, since I get all stressed out when my balance is over $1,000 and try to pay it all off as quickly as possible. I always pay $100 every month, which would make a big difference if I just STOPPED USING IT.

On Let's All Throw Some Money at Our Problems: March 2013 Check-In
LOVE this post! DEBT: Capital One: $388.53 Bank Americard: $1,259.71 (includes $510 that the BF is responsible for) J Crew: $367.04 SAVINGS: Emergency Fund: $1,081 (Future) Wedding Savings: $710 I'm planning on returning a couple of things to J Crew, so that will take that balance down by about $100. All in all, keep on keepin' on :)
