I'm going out on a limb here and saying that if you want to give an individual gift they will remember forever you should probably come up with something more creative than a fancy German bread knife off a gift registry.
@kittymayhem My husband and I are right there with you. We both grew up in the East Bay and moved for his job, but it's temporary. Where will we go when he's done? I doubt we'll have the resources to move back home to be closer to family, but staying here isn't winning us over either. I've been away from the Bay for over four years now but I still get homesick.
@polka dots vs stripes It's not always a choice, for some people their industry has the most jobs in certain cities. Could I live a cheaper life in St. Louis or Portland? Sure, but my odds of finding work for my fields (journalism, government) are not as good as being in a larger city like NYC, SF, LA, or DC.
@CubeRootOfPi Yeah I've watched people close to me struggle with dyslexia. Just because some people overcome it and become successful doesn't mean all people will.
Oh this hits home for me this week...
@stuffisthings "Aiming a gun with a gamepad is like trying to have sex in the ocean while on acid." True, but I don't play at lot of FPS. I'm more of an adventure/action type.
@walterce They really just need to standardize all PC controllers. Sometimes it's a crap shoot.
@notpollyanna I should definitely start stocking up! I mean who knows when I'll need them?
@polka dots vs stripes RE: Gaga. At the time, she was a side show for a Pride event. She was not a big deal, and we probably would have just passed on the interview if we didn't have interns rather than pay a writer.
@dj pomegranate WHY would you ever skimp on a photog? I don't understand why people think that's a good idea. The photos are all you have left of the wedding when it's all over (aside from the spouse).
