I would suspect that this would help combat the whole HSBC money laundering thing.

I’m not sure if I really care if the government knows what’s in my bank account. However, if I had money in there instead of M&Ms, I might think differently.

@la_di_da I reacted to this pretty much the same way. I mean, the bank already knows what’s in there. I assume “they” know pretty much everything about me, anyway. I assume the FBI and CIA have better things to do than laugh at how much I spend at restaurants and bars.

This is like that new show on I think CBS where the premise is that the “hero” has all this technology so he can spy on everybody everywhere at all times and prevent crime, and the audience is supposed to root for this guy. Somehow culturally we’re getting less and less concerned with privacy, apparently. (And I’m a law-abiding, card-carrying big-government liberal, I just feel like maybe there should be a little paperwork before they hand over all my personal details) (…of course, that’s what an international spy WOULD say…)
