I went to Carleton 97-01, and had some friends who lived in Crack House, and the story is not actually all that salacious. Pleas to the landlord did not result in this getting fixed, because.... college students, who cares, right? Other houses on and near campus had names like Dacie Moses House or Cookie House, Farm House, etc. So the inhabitants started calling it Crack House. It was apt! The landlord complained. The tenants said they'd stop calling it Crack House if he fixed the crack. The crack was never fixed. Maybe it was fixed by 2003, but by then the house name was stuck. Crack House!
