My partner and I were going to get a domestic partnership to get him on my insurance this year, just in case his work situation got dicey, but he decided against it just before open enrollment closed. Then, right after that, his employment situation got much dicier, which is unfortunate. Although my employer, a public university, allows us to have benefits for domestic partnerships, the state (Florida) does not recognize domestic partnerships, so it wouldn't be a "qualifying status change" if we did it now, so we'll have to wait until 2014 to add him. And since we're getting married in early 2014, we likely won't bother.
