Then, right after that, his employment situation got much dicier, which is unfortunate. Although my employer, a public university, allows us to have benefits for domestic partnerships, the state (Florida) does not recognize domestic partnerships, so it wouldn't be a "qualifying status change" if we did it now, so we'll have to wait until 2014 to add him. And since we're getting married in early 2014, we likely won't bother.
