@andnowlights I'm glad it was a good weekend. Some of my best experiences with my whole extended family were at my grandmother's memorial service and subsequent burial (they were several months apart - it takes a long time to get a slot to bury someone at Arlington Cemetery), and I'm glad you also got to experience that. It's pretty wonderful to get a chance to all remember someone together... cuts the sadness a bit. Glad it also didn't break the bank.

My weekend was lovely, thanks!

@ThatJenn Thank you! It was a very, very good weekend, despite the sadness. Love seeing my family and family friends on 24 years. And much less expensive than I was expecting, which is always good! Hope you had a great weekend!

I am the saddest person, refreshing the Billfold at work to see if there's a check in post on Mike's day off.

Friday is coming home and eating leftovers, 0.
Saturday is a morning coffee date with friend, 1000 yen for coffee and breakfast.
Maybe a few groceries 1000¥.
Sunday is brunch with friends 2500¥ plus 1000¥ train fare.
No holiday weekend here, ours was last weekend.
¥5500 or around $60.

I have no plans for the weekend, which could either mean spending very little or very LOT money.

FRIDAY: I was just invited to a girls' night at a friend's apartment, which could be fun. But I'd also made tentative plans with my boyfriend to finally go see "Zero Dark Thirty" (this is probably the fourth weekend this has been our tentative Friday plan). Either way, I think I'd spend about the same amount of money - $20ish for a bottle of wine for girls night or $20ish for a movie ticket & sneak-in snacks.
ESTIMATE: $20ish

SATURDAY: Boyfriend is going to a 9 a.m. TRX class, which means I will think about going to the gym while he's gone but will probably actually stay home and eat a breakfast burrito. No plans for the day, but we talked about going to our favorite brunch spot this weekend ($15 if just pancake sammich and no bloody mary). The rest of the day, I would like to go for a run or to the gym for a swim and also continue reading "Storm of Swords," which I started this week. Probably I should make my meal plan for the week & go grocery shopping, too ($45ish). That night, I am making delicious chicken & lime soup (free as already have ingredients) (seriously go check out the blog Budget Bytes if you haven't already), and I have plans for beers with the little brother ($20ish).
ESTIMATE: $80ish

SUNDAY: My brother will most likely crash at our place, so we'll probably make breakfast in the morning (FREE as have all ingredients). (I have been experimenting with breakfast potato recipes, nom nom nom.) Here is where it gets dicey - brother often cajoles me into doing things that cost MONEY, even though neither of us have much of it. I'll have to come up with something between now and Sunday morning that we can do that is either free or doesn't cost TOO much. Maybe I'll cook something delicious and we can watch a movie at home?? Maybe Sunday is the day for "Zero Dark Thirty," and brother can tag along?
ESTIMATE: Oh god please let me keep this day's total spending under $30

MONDAY: It is forecasted to be a classic cloudy Seattle day, and I hope to spend it drinking bloody marys at home and watching GoT on demand. Also, cleaning apartment, laundry and cooking/baking for the week ahead.
ESTIMATE: $0???

TOTAL WEEKEND ESTIMATE: $130ish

(I know this is super long, you guys, but this is so helpful for me to get all this down so I hope you do not mind TOO much, or if you do, that you just ignore me.)

@EvanDeSimone I only busted you so I could know I wasn't alone. Sometimes I am thinking of buying something or getting gas or whatever on Sunday and decide to push it to Monday or Tuesday just so it doesn't screw up my Monday check-in. I am such a cheater.

@ThatJenn You are correct! I forgot to account for tip. I do always tip my hair stylist because she is amazing and nice and always tells me awesome stories about growing up in Germany. So add another $10 to my total.

Also you’re onto me. I totally push some of my less discriminate spending onto days that are not Billfold reportable. Busted.

@Sallymander Noooooooooo! (That is where all my wife's underage American U. friends go. I always feel bad about taking up space at a gay club with a big group of straight girls. Though the drinks are cheap/strong.)
