My father always changed the oil on his vehicles himself and raised me to do the same. This ended in my college years when I bought a Saturn SC2. When the first oil change came up I took home and my father and I went to work. The car was too low to the ground to get under without jacking it up and the drain plug was difficult to access. After 45 minutes of scraped knuckles and cursing my father gave me $20 and told me to go to Jiffy Lube.

If it involves plumbing, it is always, always better to hire a professional. A good plumber can save you a lot of grief. Just do your homework first or get on Angie's List because some plumbers will take advantage of a) your lack of toilet knowledge and b) your aversion to poop and overcharge.

I am deeply envious of your ability to skinny-fy jeans. I have a pair that are doing that sagging-around-the-knees thing and debating if it would be silly to take them to a tailor and have them taken in from the knees to the ankles.

@stuffisthings Hah, I had the same reaction. "Who get to pee first" after coming home is the more common dilemma in my house.

this is part of the reason why I rent. although my toilet flusher was broken over the holidays and I had to fix it, but it was just a matter of putting a thing back into another thing. I still sprayed water all over myself though.
