Sounds Fun Let’s Do It

Hotel living, forever: “An officer at the Guaranty Trust Company remembered Ida coming to the bank in 1907, at the height of the financial panic, demanding the balance of her account in cash and stuffing all of it, nearly $1 million, into a netted bag. Declaring she was ‘tired of everything,’ she checked into the Herald Square Hotel and disappeared, effectively removing herself from her own life.”

That was sincerely fascinating.

That was great! “stuffing all of it, nearly $1 million, into a netted bag” Do you think she drove herself insane worrying and hoarding money?

Her introduction letter to Benjamin Wood is easily the best part. Loved this.

I read this article yesterday! Such an awesome story.

This was a fun story (especially the introduction letter!) until everyone pounces on her and declares her incompetent
I mean:
“They thought that was all of it until the following day, when a nurse tunneled a hand up Ida’s dress while she slept”
“There was not much left to do except wait for Ida Wood to die.”
