AMOUR, the new film by Michael Haneke!

It is so good. Better than almost all of the films listed here (definitely way better than BOTSW or Queen of Versailles). Also not Haneke’s usual style, though it does include some mysterious/wonderful/unpredictable moments that are like him. About the life of an elderly couple, piano teachers, after the wife suffers a series of strokes and is debilitated. But it’s *marvellous* and marvellously acted — plot summary definitely not sufficient to convey.

I am apparently the only one that thought Looper was great. I also thought Anna Karenina was great, but more like watching a play than a movie.

Jesus Christ though, Django Unchained was LONG.

@RosemaryF Bernie is pretty great, Jack Black gives an amazing performance and the movie is super quirky and odd and also mostly true.

Out of the movies listed here, I’ve seen Bernie, Looper and The Queen of Versailles.

The Queen of Versailles was AMAZING. The main woman is like a Jennifer Coolidge character come to life.

Bernie was very good. Weirdly sweet and charming.

Looper was disappointing. JGL’s weird prosthetics were completely distracting and, I thought, unnecessary.

Beasts of the Southern Wild is sitting on my coffee table, waiting for my schedule to synch up with my friend’s so we can watch it together. The rest are (now) in my queue!

This Is Not A Film is playing at the Living Room if you’re in Portland.

I feel like BOTSW was the biggest trick of the year. I hated it AND it made me cry.

Searching for Sugar Man is cracking. I just watched The House I Live In (Sundance winner), which was a stunner, thanks to the BBC iPlayer.

Looper is a movie people* will be re-watching in five, ten years time. Flawed, sure, but entertaining as hell.
