And What Do You Do? I Do Poker

A man chooses a woman to be his coach in professional poker—very rare!—and also: professional poker. (“Selbst’s success at poker may be genetic. Her mother—who died in 2005, just before Selbst became a poker superstar—was an MIT graduate who paid her way through college by playing poker, and her parents met during a bridge game. Growing up, Selbst’s mom acted as her poker mentor, and the family encouraged competiveness by playing games like cribbage and Mastermind.”)

My prom date has gone on to be a successful and relatively famous poker player (he had a $2M win last week, for instance), which is super-weird. Also, he and his friends seem to be in every issue of Maxim that I pick up, by some odd coincidence. He says the main thing he really loves is being able to set his own hours, which I can see, and I mean, if I could do that for a living I just might!
