Head shunting [v.] The secret hiring of a head hunter to persuade an ineffectual employee to take a position at another firm. Nicely eliminates the mess of having to fire someone.
More from the Ridiculous Business Jargon Dictionary here. I’m so glad I don’t have to work in a traditional office setting anymore. “I’m going to loop HR onto this email. And then I’m going to tie a loop around my neck and hang myself. You should touch base with me after.”
office jargon is a hideous abuse of language. when people use the word “calendar” as a verb i pretty much get homicidal.
spine, having one: learning how to fire your own damn employees like a grownup, saving you the money and hassle of hiring a headhunter to “give them a new job”
@Megano! This is about cases where it costs more money to fire someone than to hire a headhunter.
@Nick This is something that has never occurred to me before!
