I have a similar picture of all of my worldly belongings in a neat pile as I vacated my old apartment. Being broke meant I couldn’t rent a van to carry all my stuff, so I was limited to whatever fit in the backseat of my dad’s car. The rest (including all furniture, books, clothes, kitchen supplies, and knick knacks) went on the curb. I don’t miss any of it.
Am I the only Billfold reader who’s kind of hoping that Logan and Mike move into together Odd Couple-style and record it for a video series/web reality show? (also, yes, I am that old).
@Mary-Lynn Bragg@twitter I would love that so much! I have a mental image of that 80′s sit-com-y tableau of Mike holding up Logan’s brand-name toothpaste with an “Oh, Logan!” look on his face, while she shrugs adorably.
I own (have inherited) heaps (of junk) compared to you!
Seriously, I wish I owned this little. Do you have stuff at your parents’ house? I find that friends of mine who leave home have a whole lot of stuff at their parents’ places because they don’t have space/use for it but aren’t getting rid of their pasts just yet.
Oh man. I am on my third multi-bedroom house I’ve furnished entirely with my stuff, so this looks like… what’s on top of my dresser. I’ve inherited like half of my parents’ furniture as they’ve moved in with new partners, bought furniture off roommates moving out, gotten whatever furniture my ex-husband decided not to take when he moved out, have a big upright piano I don’t even play and two couches and… yeah. Basically the main reason I own a house is so I never have to move all my stuff again (and I mean, based on the housing market I’ll never be able to afford to move anyway, since it’s improved everywhere else in the country and just continued dropping here). I admire folks who can live with little stuff but I am TERRIBLE at it.
@ThatJenn PS In all that stuff there is not a single mirror. OK, I own the bathroom vanity I guess, and it has a mirror, but it made me laugh that in your small pile I could see at least one item I don’t own.
That said I have enough makeup, nail polish, and Lush products to fill one of those IKEA bags. It’s easy to talk myself into spending when the product is small.
Everyone I know (“know”, though Logan, you and I have had some cracking imaginary conversations) is moving and it is driving me to cull so much of my own stuff.

wow, you own…a lot less stuff than I do! I mean this in a good way, I am kind of hoarder-y.
Yeah, I own way more shit than this (and probably shouldn’t).
@Reginal T. Squirge I need to go through all my stuff if I’m moving and I…may need to invite ppl over to help >.>
phew! glad to learn you’re moving, & that this isn’t the result of someone else taking issue with your belief in your own irreplaceability.
On to bigger and better things, Logan!

@Mary-Lynn Bragg@twitter now THAT is the way to make a billion.
I think you live(d) on my block?

Go Logan! Less stuff makes life easier.

I like that about 15% of your worldly possessions by volume is box fans.
