Young people: Just wanted to put a quick note here that there are internships you can do that actually pay you (as least in New York City). They exist!
They do exist elsewhere. When I’m authorized to hire interns I usually pay $24/hour to start for undergrads and $28/hour for grad students. These are generally CS/engineering students, but occasionally marketing as well.
