Welcome to College, Kids

Over at SMBC, Zach Weiner is welcoming all the new college kids with this tell-it-like-it-is comic. Now that I think about it, I have no idea where my college diploma/claim check is. I think it’s sitting in a drawer at my folks’ house in California. What do people do with their diplomas if they’re not hanging it in their office? [via]

I’m pretty sure mine occupies the center of the weird shrine to my achievements that my parents constructed while simultaneously being really disappointed in me.
it’s in its leather diploma cover, on my bookshelf. gathering much more dust than my books.
@wearitcounts You got a LEATHER diploma cover with it? How tony!
@wearitcounts Ditto. Though I’m fairly certain my cover is pleather.
@Megano! i went to a very small liberal arts college, so my diploma cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $130,000. which means the leather diploma cover was a lot like the foam hat in the above cartoon.
Mine is around somewhere. I found my high school diploma the other day while cleaning my room and considered throwing it out. Will that thing EVER be useful for me??
Also: “the easier college gets, the dumber you look for not having a degree” what a cheery start to the morning!
@redheaded&crazy You can use it as a form of ID for some things! Like one of the two verifying documents to get a driver’s license (at least in my old state).
I once had no forms of ID, was only able to get a copy of my birth certificate because my mother lived near the town I was born in, and used that with my diploma to get a driver’s license and then used that to get a new SS card. Diplomas! They’re useful!
@redheaded&crazy Man, the ticket price of my local mediocre public university is $25,000 a year for in-state residential students! I think it should be “the costlier college gets, the smarter you look for not undertaking five-digit-plus debt.”
Mine is on a shelf on my bedroom, still in its original tube.
@jane lane
Origin packaging always commands a higher price on ebay.

*original (ugh)
One of mine is in a closet in the cardboard envelope it came in. I opened it to make sure my name was spelled right and haven’t touched it since. I have no clue where the other one is.
My B.A. got tea spilled over it, my college one I just got is sitting next to me, still in the envelope. Neither has gotten me 20% more in earnings. Although the second one has gotten me more money in four months than the last one did.
My BS is on the top shelf of a closet. My BA… I don’t think I ever got the physical copy of it? Whatever, nobody actually cares about my degree. I haven’t mentioned it since I get my first job out of school.
