What?? Nando's is amazing! KFC is the grossest. I was introduced to Nando's when I first visited the UK and now I happily consume it whenever I'm near one of their restaurants. I have to say that the two Nando's locations in DC aren't the greatest, but they're still pretty good for fast food.

I am now scrolling back up to read the rest of your piece.

I know where Glasgow is. But I also know where a lot of places are due to being a Carmen Sandiego nerd.
When you're denied entry into a country, do you have to pay airfare again to go back? How does that work?

@deana I live in Thurso in the Scottish highlands now, for work, but my parents live in Sandyhills, a suburb to the East of the city. I lived in anniesland for a while. I know Partick well, as I went to the University of Glasgow. Fun to read a foreigners perspective of my hometown :)

@emilies @minijen Yeah. That’s a big part of my moving to the UK story. We got married quick-like and I applied for a marriage visa / indefinite leave to remain. It was a rather complicated and expensive process, but certainly simpler than if you’re trying to go for a non-marriage visa I think. We just did a city hall thing, no ceremony, so in my mind and to everyone besides the bank he’s still my boyfriend and not my husband. If that makes sense.
