Not the End, but Certainly a Decline
Whatever we think of Hanna Rosin and her head-turning title of a book, it is true that male-dominated industries, most notably manufacturing, has seen steep declines in the last few decades. As The Atlantic points out, Census data shows that even with women earning more money, median household incomes are dropping. Men’s earnings haven’t only dropped during the Obama administration, but during the Bushes and Reagan administrations as well. Nobody has a clear idea on what to do to reverse this trend, but one obvious place to look is where job growth is happening, like the medical field. My tiger mother would be happy to hear this.

In the medium-to-long run, manufacturing simply isn’t going to be a job that people do. It’ll be roboticized and automated, and we need to plan for what role humans will have when that happens. (Robot repairmen? Robot managers? Sex workers?)
@deepomega Robox sex worker repairmen.
Your Tiger Mum would be happy for you to be on a nurse salary?
@TARDIStime Writers actually don’t make a lot of money!
