Do your parents read the Billfold and keep up on your credit card stuff that way?

I am also realizing that I will never be as well-off as my parents are now, but - I am probably going to get close to how they were when I was young, and that's pretty awesome. I don't think I WANT to have as much money as they do now... they seem to constantly feel the need to go bigger and better and spend more lavishly and just... no. I like that I do still feel the need to practice the relatively frugality they taught me when I was young, and hope I never lose that.

@TheclaAndTheSeals Yes, this! It's a tough moment of realisation. Also, I have a bath every time I visit my parents, even if it's in the middle of the day, just for the luxury (and cause I only have a shower cubicle at home..)

my parents have never had cable/satellite and I am watching my Dish Latino as I type this, so I don't even know what people are talking about when they say our generation is worse off than the last. (I kid.)

@Mari D Seriously. It's like some luxurious fantasy world with antique rugs and a landscaped yard and twelve different kinds of cheese. Meanwhile, I'd settle for a bath tub I am willing to sit down in.

My sister and I used to go back home to our parents house on the weekends and we'd joke it was our country home. My parents would even leave bacon and pancakes for us if they were going to be out when we got home! So yeah, parents can be pretty awesome and why did I hate them growing up?!

Totally. I used to take my parent's lifestyle for granted, but now that I'm out in the world, I come home and think "How on earth did they GET all THIS?"
