Something to Listen to On Your Way to Work This Morning

Earlier this year, I wrote a story for The Hairpin about a boss I once had in college. A few weeks later, I did something that I never thought I would do because of my terrible stage fright, which was tell the story for the Moth in front of a live audience. You can tell how nervous I am because I stumble over a few words here and there, and take weird pauses sometimes. You can download the podcast in iTunes and listen to me on your way to work, or at the gym, or on a road trip (can I come with you?).

ooooh mike dang i have such bad stage fright too…i once had to go speak to a classroom of students about some stupid administrative thing and i basically gagged, almost threw up, and ran out of the room. MORTIFYING. so, it is AWESOME that you did this. and that you are sharing it!

i am having a beach house party this weekend. you can come to that!

Oh my gosh, I remember reading that awesome story and I did not make the connection that it was written by the one and only Mike Dang.

I had not read this story before… wow! Very intriguing and excellently written (of course). I’d kind of like to listen to it now.

I listened to this on my bus ride to work this morning! Great job, Mike. :)

I listened to this yesterday when you tweeted it… oh my gosh Mike Dang you have the cutest voice. Congratulations! I am thrilled for you. Being on The Moth podcast is a lifetime ambition of mine. Too bad I’m a crappy storyteller.

Oh my god, I remember this story! So crazy. Mike we love you, everyone here loves you.

“I say thank you and then I run away, because I don’t like compliments.” MIKE DANG! You are the best, and also thank you for this because I get weirded out by compliments, which weirds everyone else out and then makes me feel bad.

I’ve been enjoying your posts for awhile, and enjoyed even more hearing your adorable voice! Very funny.
