Smoothie at the Smoothie Place Near My House

$8.75. Any smoothie, all smoothies. This is too much. Smoothies should be $5. Flat. That’s it. Maybe more with some wheatgrass protein powder mumbojumbo, but that’s on you. I love to throw away money. Love it! LOVE. IT. But $8.75 for a smoothies is absurd. (Unless this is what smoothies cost now, and I’m out out of my damn mind?)

There’s some economic mantra along the lines of “the market willpay whatever the market will bear,” but as a cheap-ass bastard, that is way to much for a smoothie.

“Did you just order an $8.75 smoothie? That’s a smoothie. . . that’s fruit and water. That’s $8.75? You don’t put bourbon in it or nothin’?”

I won’t even pay $5 for a smoothie. But I’m a cheap bastard, not a hippie.

(Note: smoothies are for hippies.)

I love smoothies, but I would never pay $8.75 for a smoothie. $5, maybe. They are so easy to make though, I’d feel bad about it.

I paid nearly $11 for two bubble teas over the weekend and I’m still pretty mad about it.

But $8.75 for a smoothie? I don’t know, I’d walk out. Because I’ve been making smoothies AT HOME and bitching about the cost and I know my homemade smoothies aren’t $8.75.

$8.75 for a smoothie is too much. What type of smoothie is this? Is a luxury organic local sourced smoothie? Does it come in a gold plated cup?

Working for a Big Time Beverage Company, the cost of the smoothie is probably 1)milk (if any), 2) shipping the fresh fruit to NYC and 2) labor. It costs a lot to pay a person to make your smoothie.

But $9 is way out of the range of what most people are willing to pay.
