Places on the Internet That Will Make You Better

The WSJ has compiled a roundup of must-use websites for “finance novices.” The usual suspects make the list (Mint.com for tracking your spending, CreditKarma.com for checking your credit report) but they also share less well-known services, like Veritat, which offers online financial planning courses for the low price of free. I have accounts at most of the sites they mention, and here’s a hot tip: Signing up for regular emails that you then re-route into your spam folder will not a finance expert make! Just a little piece of wisdom, from me to you.

CreditKarma is the site that made me truly address my credit card debt! It is the best feeling in the WORLD to go in and update your score, and watch the little graph of debt go down and credit score go up. Concrete progress!
