They&#039;re rarely your cheapest option (if you live in a city well-served by cabs, it&#039;s probably also well-served by mass transit), but compared to the costs of owning a car, even semi-extravagant cab usage can seem like a drop in the bucket, especially given the realities of parking in a large city.

For me, the main hang-up is that DC cabs don&#039;t take plastic, and I rarely carry cash and treasure it when I do.</description>
