Sometimes dentists offer free clinics in schools to give dental care to low-income kids. (Great.) But sometimes also the management companies that run the school clinics over-prescribe treatments—like braces for kids with baby teeth—ostensibly because more treatments means more money from Medicaid. I think the key point to be made here is that medical professionals should determine your treatment (as well as you) rather than your insurer/gov’t.
