Created an account to say wtf re: "universities bearing the names of 'Colorado,' 'Texas,' 'Ohio,' and 'Wisconsin' should be avoided."? Can the author provide a rationale for this opinion?

Per 1.c.ii, see Edward Bellamy's <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looking_Backward">"Looking Backward: 2000-1887"</a>, a truly not-good novel with interesting, if overly rosy, ideas.

Also: "Rather, such fear has been bread into them..." Delicious!

I haven't gotten more than a page down through this hilarious piece, and I've at least twice had to repeat some line aloud to my co-workers.

Actual question: am I not giving myself enough credit (ha, pun?) by often paying off some or all of my balances BEFORE my credit card statement is actually made? Sometimes I just transfer money because I know that I can at that moment, and I am always constantly checking my credit cards and bank accounts. But does this mean that it is not showing as credit history for me? I feel like I just screwed myself out of years of credit by making early payments.
