@whizz_dumb The cocaine he talks about selling occasionally certainly has foreign origins. And even when stuff comes from the U.S. its distribution is often guaranteed by guns and violence. If he’s getting his supply from benevolent hippies on a VW bus, good for him, and he should advertise as such. But with the way he cavalierly talks about his wannabe outlaw lifestyle, I kind of doubt it. I’m just sick of people acting like their use of illicit substances (whether they should be illegal or not) don’t have real world consequences. If you don’t buy lipstick because it was tested on animals, or you only buy fair trade coffee, you should also think about the way your consumption of drugs ripples through other people’s lives. I might not blame the employee in the analogy you present (though a willing participant in a black market isn’t an employee per se), but I’d certainly blame a willfully ignorant consumer.

I have a feeling you’re wrong about where it comes from. The $50/eighth stuff could and does come from growers in northern California oftentimes. Buy humanely? Blood weed? I think your blame is slightly misplaced, as much as I support the Alex Brown Bears jersey (?) in your user-pic phanttroll@twitter. It’s like blaming the Apple store employee for suicides at the Foxconn manufacturing plant or blaming the shoe store worker for child labor practices by Nike.
