The ST50 by Panasonic is the best TV for the money right now. It beats all the Plasmas of 2011, handily. Technically, it’s the replacement of our “good enough” TV last year, the midrange ST30, which was the pinnacle of high end features at a sweet spot of price. But it’s so good, it even beats our pick for last year’s best of breed TV, the VT30. It costs about $1250 for a 50 inch model. More great TVs will be reviewed in the next two months, from Samsung and Panasonic, so you should wait if you can to make your decision. But it’s highly unlikely that any of these high end TVs will be as great of a value as the ST50. Call it the most modest of the super plasmas.
