Nuns Doing Too Much Good, Not Hating Enough
“I’m stunned,” said Sister Simone Campbell, executive director of Network, a Catholic social justice lobby founded by sisters. Her group was also cited in the Vatican document, along with the Leadership Conference, for focusing its work too much on poverty and economic injustice, while keeping “silent” on abortion and same-sex marriage.
“Hey nuns! Stop helping poor people so much, and start dedicating more time to hot button issues that won’t actually accomplish anything except remind everyone that the Catholic Church is against things! Who do you think you are, a bunch of Mother Theresas!?” — The Vatican (Photo: keepwadling/Flickr)

My college was connected to one of the world’s largest (as in most populous) operating monasteries and 95% of those nuns and monks were the most amazing people. Some of the best feminists I’ve ever met were nuns. The most badass people I’ve ever protested with were nuns. Social Justice Catholicism ftw!
“Mother Theresa wasn’t so great. She never got her picture on bubblegum cards, did she? Have you ever seen her picture on a bubblegum card? Hmmm? How can you say someone is great who’s never had her picture on bubblegum cards?” -Hitch
@melis Isn’t this from Peanuts? I think Lucy said the same thing.
Are you sure it shouldn’t be “Mothers Theresa”?
@Jeremy Yoder@twitter Oh like, culs de sac? Maybe!?
I saw a nun on my way to a pinup last week!
Also when I went to Vatican city I almost got run over by a car full of nuns. They were very annoyed with me.
