We went to the movies today (which we do about once a quarter, usually because HE wants to see something on the big screen - this time The Avengers, which was surprisingly not too terrible). Tickets were (NZ)$17 each on a Saturday. He spent another $10 on popcorn and Coke.

My favorite part of working at a movie theater was calling out nervous pre-teens trying to sneak food into the theater. We were specifically told not to actually stop anyone despite the posted warnings. When I let them in anyway, they thought I was super cool (what's cooler than a college graduate working as a movie theater usher?). Good times.

$13.50 for a movie ticket and $6 for a pack of cigarettes -- choosing the more economical pastime is obvious.

@Megan Patterson@facebook I'm from the US, where M&Ms have no Pepsi but simply (unfairly or not) dominate the little-chocolate-buttons-with-a-candy-shell market.

@melis In Canada, what we think of as Smarties are called "Rockets," and what they call Smarties are like M&Ms with, like, triple the hard candy shell and half the chocolate (WHY???)(I'm not a fan, obvs).

@melis: I have a feeling these are the British Smarties, which are more like M&Ms than what you're thinking.
